Erosion-type fracture of highway asphalt surface impacted by tire studs

FEM model of tire stud impacting asphalt halfspace
Critical (minimal) motor car speed resulting in asphalt facture as a function of asphalt elastic modulus

The brittle fracture of the asphalt-concrete surfaces was studied. This fracture occurs under tire strikes impact during the high speed vehicle motion. The investigation of this process bases on the model problems solution (dynamic spalling at the plane and contact Hertz problem) and computational researches, which most corresponded to reality.
